Funding for water-related projects is available from a variety of sources. The Division of Water has no funds directly available for distribution, but it coordinates and oversees funds and projects for communities, such as wastewater plants and collection systems and drinking water plants and distribution systems. It also oversees nonpoint source prevention projects aimed at preventing pollution of water resources.
The Clean Water State Revolving Fund, also referred to as Fund A, is a 20-year loan program for planning, design and construction of wastewater infrastructure projects, storm water projects and nonpoint source projects.
The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund have programs that provide low interest loans to eligible public water systems (PWS) for drinking water infrastructure projects.
The State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs are low interest loan programs for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater or nonpoint source infrastructure projects. Examples include: water and sewer line replacements and extensions, new water storage tanks, tank refurbishment, treatment projects, and more.
The Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grants Program: Green Infrastructure Assistance Program supports the implementation of green infrastructure (GI) and nature-based solutions (NbS) in rural and disadvantaged communities to address stormwater runoff.
319(h) Grant program was established to provide funding for efforts to reduce nonpoint source pollution.
Need assistance funding source water protection activities? SWPAP is designed to help communities fund source water protection projects. These funds, not to exceed $60,000 per project, are only available to PWSs or the entities they serve (e.g. towns, cities, counties, schools).
