Overview

Water covers 71% of the planet’s surface, so you might assume that there is plenty to go around, but did you know that only about 0.5% of the Earth’s water is fresh and available for us to use? More than 99% is frozen, deep underground, too salty, or too contaminated to drink.

Conservation is crucial to ensuring we have water now and for future generations.

Here you will find resources to help you conserve, data on our current water supply and what the Division is doing to preserve and protect the Commonwealth’s water.

We hope you visit often as we continuously add content. We encourage you to be a steward of Kentucky’s water by using it wisely and sharing information with others.
