The portion of Rockcastle River that had been designated a Wild River stretched 15.9 miles long from the Kentucky Highway 80 bridge to the backwaters of Lake Cumberland. The reach of the Rockcastle lies entirely within the proclamation boundary of the Daniel Boone National Forest. This corridor is home to approximately 50 species of mammals, 250 species of birds, 75 species of reptiles and 75 species of fish. The Rockcastle River provides many outdoor recreation opportunities located at the Bee Rocks Campground and Laurel River Lake. For more information please visit the US Forest Service website.
