Economic Development

Kentucky is fortunate to have access to an abundance of water resources.  Water is integral to economic development.  Without reliable clean, safe and affordable water resources and access to drinking water and wastewater treatment, sustainable economic growth is not possible.  The Cabinet has made significant progress in regionalizing the state's public water systems and creating access to data on our water resources.

Division of Water services for economic development include:

  • State primacy for all regulatory programs. *404 permits are regulated by the US Army Corps of Engineers
  • General permits for construction and operation
  • Datasets for site evaluation
  • Streamlined regulatory permit process
