Mar. 2, 2026 - Removal of the Federal Reformulated Gasoline (RFG) Program From the Kentucky Portion of the Louisville, KY-IN Area
On March 2, 2026 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the approval of the Kentucky Division for Air Quality's (Division) petition to opt-out of the reformulated gasoline (RFG) program and remove the requirement to sell RFG in Jefferson County and parts of Bullitt and Oldham Counties.
EPA has set an effective date for the opt-out from the RFG program as May 27, 2026. EPA has determined that the removal of the RFG program for the Kentucky portion of the Louisville, KY-IN Area is consistent with the applicable provisions of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and the EPA's regulations.
The approval can be found in the Federal Register.
