Voluntary Environmental Cleanup Program

Owners or developers can choose to voluntarily clean up all, or a portion of, a site for a variety of reasons, from facilitating development goals to being good stewards of the environment in their community, or even for the various financial or tax incentives available. Those who do choose to conduct even minor voluntary remediation actions are often unfamiliar with the technical requirements involved. Both the Divisions of Waste Management and Compliance Assistance have resources and expertise available to help guide informed and productive remedial activities.

Please contact the Division of Waste Management, Superfund Branch, for questions regarding technical aspects such as sampling protocol, clean-up levels for different contaminants, or best-practices questions at 502-782-6634. For further questions related to available incentives or community-focused aspects of remedial work, please contact the Division of Compliance Assistance at 502-782-6189.
