About Beargrass Creek State Nature ​​Preserve​

Dedicated Feb. 17, 1982, Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve is a 41-acre second growth woodland in Jefferson County. Located in close proximity to Joe Creason Park [External link] and the Louisville Zoological Gardens [External link], this urban green space is a popular birding area and offers passive recreation and nature education in the midst of downtown Louisville. The preserve is co-managed with the Louisville Nature Center [External link] and is also a Watchable Wildlife Site [External link]

Jefferson County. From the Watterson Expressway (I-264), take Exit 14 to Poplar Level Road North. Take Poplar Level Road to Trevilian Way (1.0 mile). Turn Right on to Trevilian Way and go 0.2 mile to Illinois Avenue. Turn Left on to Illinois Avenue. Take Illinois Avenue to the LNC parking lot on your right (0.2 mile)
