River Cliffs State Nature Preserve, located in Franklin County, was dedicated on October 22, 2002. Situated along the Kentucky River palisades northwest of Frankfort, River Cliffs State Nature Preserve protects Lucy Braun's rockcress (Arabis perstellata), a federally endangered species. The original 112-acre tract was one of the commission's first privately owned tracts dedicated into the state nature preserves system. It was made possible by the generous donation of a conservation easement by the owner.  Additional acreage was purchased through the KHLCF.
