The Kentucky Division of Forestry, in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (USFS), is managing the Urban and Community Forestry (U&CF) Grant Assistance Program. The program is designed to encourage communities to create and support long-term and sustained urban and community forestry programs throughout Kentucky.
The Kentucky Division of Forestry is working to distribute $1.8 million to local governments, 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, and educational institutions to support work increasing access to trees and green spaces, and the many benefits they provide.
Funded through the US Forest Service from the Inflation Reduction Act, 100% of funding is intended to be delivered to or used to serve underserved and disadvantaged communities. Communities and organizations were encouraged to apply for between $1,000 and $250,000. Larger proposals are also considered. Consideration is given to ensure smaller communities have equitable access to funding. Information regarding underserved area can be found by using the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool . No match funding will be required.
