The Kenton County Conservation District manages this site for restoration of native habitats and as a demonstration for good management practices. This site is a mixture of approximately 60% upland, calcareous forest dominated by various oaks, hickories, American beech, sugar maple, and ironwood with some red cedar thickets and woodlands at the periphery of the more mesic forests. Population of the federally endangered plant Short's goldenrod have be restored to the site, as well as habitat for federally endangered bats, in partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The Mary Kate Dickerson Environmental Education Center was established in 2016, and the Kenton County Conservation District regularly hosts field days on the site.
