Gathering Line Permitting

A successfully completed oil or gas well will be connected to flow lines and/or gathering lines and the lines are regulated by 805 KAR 1:190.  A one-time permit(Form OG-11) is required to install these flow and/or gathering lines.  In addition to the permit, the applicant is required to submit fees of $100 for an oil or water flow line, $200 for a gas flow line, $500 for an oil, gas or water gathering line, and a map at an approximate scale of 1"=400'.  The map should show the well location and permit number, the operator's name, the flow and/or gathering lines, connecting gas transmission lines or tank batteries, the line diameter and material of construction, e.g. steel, plastic, poly, or fiberglass, and the date the map was created.

Gathering Line ArcMap Database

The flow and/or gathering lines depicted in map form and submitted with the fees and application will be digitized into a Kentucky Division of Oil and Gas ArcMap database.  The Division of Oil and Gas database will be updated and migrated to the Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS) Create a Gathering Line Map page.  Gathering and flow lines can be retrieved from the KGS database for public use.  Note:  the accuracy of the gathering and flow line maps are only as accurate as the data submitted to the Division of Oil and Gas by the oil and gas community.

Gathering Line Operator License

An annually renewable Gathering Line Operators License is required by 805 KAR 1:190.  Each licensee shall annually submit a completed license renewal form using the Application - Gathering Line Operator's License, (Form OG-2).  The annual fee for the Gathering Line Operator's License is $100 or $25 if you are an operator who is operating one gas well used strictly for the purpose of heating a residential dwelling.  An invoice will be mailed to the operator's business address during the first month of every new year.
